Top 3 Natural Habitats to Visit in Rajasthan

  • Ranthambore National Park, Ranthambore
Known to be one of the best places in India to see animals in their natural jungle habitat, Ranthambore National Park is home to a large fauna and flora. The national park is famously known to be a home to tigers, nilgai, Indian leopard, wild boar, sambar, sloth bear, gray langur, etc.

Originally established as the Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary in 1955, Indian government brought it under the Project Tiger scheme, and later declaring it as a National Park in 1980.

The Tiger Reserve later expanded by merging the nearby sanctuaries- Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary and Keladevi Sanctuary to bring Ranthambore National Park into the expansive territory it is today.
The best time to visit the park is in the months if November and May when the foliage gives way to better sighting opportunities of the majestic animals in their natural habitat. For someone who is a wildlife enthusiast but is also interested in historical architecture, the fortress that is built inside the sanctuary provides the perfect blend of the wild and history.

The park is situated on a plateau, bound by the rivers of Chambal and Banas on either side, thus making it a perfect place to revive the tiger population. The constant efforts by the authorities has also considerably contributed to the same.
